Counselor FAQs

  1. Where and when can I use the phones or my cell phone?

There are two payphones for counselor use, one at the docks and one at the Counselors’ Lodge. You may use the phones during three times of the day:

  • 5:00pm free time
  • after dinner
  • after Taps

You may use your cell phone at these same times, and only at the docks or Counselors’ Lodge. Your cell phone should remain turned off at all times when you are not using it, and you should never have it on tent row. If there is an emergency, talk to one of the Head Counselors.

  1. How do I do laundry at camp?

The Senior Camp counselor washing machines are located inside the senior showers, and the Junior Camp counselor washing machines are located behind the bathrooms. There is a sign-up book in each location, and you will have 3 hours at a time to complete your laundry. There is a $3 flat fee for each time you’ve signed up, which you may pay at the end of the term/summer.

  1. What if I have a camper who wets the bed?

The first time slot in the morning for Junior Camp laundry is for campers who have wet the bed. You may wash their bedding and clothing at that time, and the Head Counselors will assist you in anything else you may need.

  1. May I check my e-mail while I’m at camp?

You may sign up for a 15-minute period of internet use during the 5:00 free time and after dinner. Sign up book is located in the Cottage, as well as the counselor computer. If you have a laptop, wireless internet is available in the Cottage only, at 5:00 free time.

  1. Do I get some time-off while I’m at camp?

Yes, your head counselors will tell you how often you will be able to leave camp. There is a sign-up book for this as well, and you must work with your Department Head to ensure you have coverage for your activities while you are away from camp.

  1. Am I allowed to keep food in my tent?

No, all counselor food must be kept in the Counselors’ Lodge. You will have a mailbox with your name on it, in which you may keep any food/belongings you wish to keep off of tent row (write your name on these items, including food).  Please, no gum-chewing while at camp, unless you are at the Counselors’ Lodge.

  1. May I give food or candy to my campers?

No, you are encouraged NOT to give your campers any food or candy. Food is not allowed on tent row, and the wrappings will attract bugs and animals.

  1. When can I wear flip-flops?

You must wear close-toed shoes to all meals, daily activities, and evening activities. You may wear flip-flops or open-toed shoes during the following times:

  • showers
  • free time on tent row
  • lunch under the apple tree (Thursday lunches)
  • swimming/canoeing
  • specific times your department requires water shoes
  1. When do counselors get free time?

Counselor free-time is from 5 to 6pm and after taps. You may spend time in the Counselors’ Lodge, the Arts and Crafts Lodge, the docks, the Purple Palace (if you are a JC), or the Cottage if you are checking e-mail or meeting with Sam.
