Welcome to Camp Alleghany’s staff page! We thank you for your interest in working as a Ghany Counselor. Our counselors are women ages 18 and older, many of whom attended Alleghany as campers themselves. Alleghany encourages the return of alumnae year after year to help keep camp traditions and friendships strong. We also encourage new and international applicants as a way to diversify our camp community. All staff members must apply, interview, and submit to a background check annually. Additionally, we expect all our counselors to adhere to the Honor Code, the No Gossip Policy, and the Counselor Code of Conduct while employed by Alleghany. Below you will find the application as well as useful information to help you decide which position at Alleghany will best fit your talents and personality. We hope to see you this summer!

Applications
Below you will find 3 applications with descriptions and deadlines. Please download the appropriate application (only 1 that applies to you), and either fill it out on your computer or print it out and fill it in by hand. Send completed applications by e-mail to Camp.Alleghany@gmail.com or by mail to P.O. Box 664, Fredericksburg, VA 22404.
Sam Dawson, Director, and Elizabeth Shreckhise, Assistant to the Directors, will review all applications and contact you directly to set up an interview. You will be notified about employment shortly after you have interviewed with us.

Application Due Dates
JC Application: November 15th (notification of hire in January)
Head Counselor Application: January 1st (notification of hire in February)
Counselor Application: February 1st (notification of hire within a month of applying)
Early Application (n/a for JCs and Head Counselors): November 1 (notification of hire by January 1st)
JC Application
This application is only for girls who attended Alleghany as a 16-year old camper in the Summer of 2009, and who are interested in being a part of the Junior Counselor training program. The deadline for this application is November 15th you will be notified by Sam during the month of January.
The JC application deadline has passed.
Counselor Application
This is for anyone seeking a counselor position at Alleghany for the Summer of 2010 regardless of past experience at camp. This application is also for those seeking a leadership position other than a Head Counselor position (such as Department Head, Unit Head, etc). The deadline for this application is February 1st, and there is an Early Application deadline of November 1st. You will be notified within a month of applying.
Head Counselor Application
This is for counselors with significant leadership experience at Alleghany. Applicants must be over the age of 21. The deadline for this application is December 1st, and you will be notified during the month of January.
