Camp Alleghany's purpose as established by her founders more than 80 years ago, and faithfully followed through the years, is to educate young girls in the principles of sportsmanship, citizenship, cooperation, consideration for others, the Honor System, and meaningful appreciation of cultural and spiritual traditions. The directors of Camp Alleghany hope that all the girls who come here will strive to accept and make use of the challenge and opportunity the Camp offers them to grow in their capacity for establishing satisfying interpersonal relationships, creative endeavor, spiritual insight, and emotional security.
